How the Haiti International Ship & Corporate Registry collects, uses and protects personal information submitted through this website.

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Who we are

Haiti International Ship & Corporate Registry (HISCR) operates this website at www.hiscr.org. Our registered office is Blvd, La Saline PO Box 2145, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. For any question about this policy, or about information we hold, write to info@hiscr.org.

Information you give us

When you send an enquiry through the contact form, we receive the information you type into it:

  • your name and email address, which are required so that we can reply;
  • your company name, phone number, subject and chosen department, if supplied;
  • the message itself, together with the page it was sent from.

We record the date the enquiry was received and issue it a reference number. We do not ask for, and you should not send, passwords, payment card details or government identity numbers through this form.

Information collected automatically

To prevent abuse of the contact form and the certificate verification service, we apply a short-lived rate limit keyed to the network address the request came from. This is used only to count recent requests and is not used to build a profile of you.

This website does not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers. See our Cookie Policy for what is stored in your browser.

Certificate verification

Verifying a certificate looks up a record the registry has already issued. The details returned come from the register itself — they are not taken from you, and the lookup does not require you to identify yourself. Verification results carry a session-specific watermark so that a leaked capture can be traced back to the view that produced it.

How we use your information

We use the information you send us to:

  • answer your enquiry and provide the registry service you asked about;
  • process an application for registration, certification or endorsement;
  • keep a record of correspondence, as a registry is required to;
  • protect the service against fraudulent or abusive use.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to send marketing you did not ask for.

Sharing

Information may be shared where it is necessary to:

  • provide the service — for example with a recognised organisation, classification society or authorised agent acting on a matter you have raised;
  • meet a legal, regulatory or flag-State obligation, including requests from port State authorities;
  • operate the website, through service providers who host it on our behalf.

Retention

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter and to maintain a proper record of registry correspondence. Certificate records are retained for the life of the registration and for such period afterwards as the registry is required to keep them.

Security

Access to the registry's administration panel is restricted to authorised staff and protected by password and two-factor authentication. Traffic to this website is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we ask that sensitive documents be sent to us by an agreed secure channel rather than by ordinary email.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete correspondence that is no longer required. Write to info@hiscr.org. We may need to keep records that form part of a registration or certification file even where correspondence is deleted.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the way the website handles information changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
